Building healthy communities and populations
In collaboration with national agencies and other UN agencies and donors,
WHO supports health promotion activities, the implementation of the healthy
settings concept, child health, adolescent health, mental health, injury
prevention and control, health promotion in the workplace, non-communicable
disease prevention and control, and the fight against tobacco.
In 2004, important achievements include the finalization of the Survey
and Assessment of Vietnamese Youth (the largest study on youth knowledge,
attitudes and practices conducted in the country), and the launching
of the National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign for NCD prevention. In 2003,
Viet Nam signed the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and is currently
in the process of ratification.
