Combating communicable diseases
This area includes support to interventions
to improve immunization coverage, vector-borne and parasitic disease
control (e.g. malaria, dengue), tuberculosis and leprosy control, and
sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS.
Viet Nam has attained important goals in combating
communicable diseases in recent years. For example the eradication
of Poliomyelitis in Viet Nam was achieved in 2000. WHO is also supporting
health authorities at central and provincial levels in the implementation
of plans for prevention and care for people infected and affected by
AIDS.
