SOCIAL IN BRIEF 9/3 - Health institute requests more Tamiflu

The National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases has asked the Health Ministry to supplement health clinics with the antiviral drug Tamiflu.

Tamiflu is best known as the recommended drug for treating and preventing bird flu in humans.

The Institute Deputy Director Dr Hong Ha said many health clinics do not have enough valid Tamiflu as reserves for those who may contract avian influenza.

Since the beginning of this year, avian influenza has taken four lives in Vietnam and reoccurred in nine provinces and cities.
