High risk of bird flu reoccurs in Central and Central Highland regions

Officials warns of high risk of bird flu

Nhan Dan - A high risk of a bird flu outbreak has been warned by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

It was a content of a conference in Hanoi on February 29 to discuss methods to control and prevent cattle and poultry diseases in the north.

Hoang Van Nam, deputy head of the Veterinary Department, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that there is a high risk of a widespread of bird flu due to a poor supervision and the control of the epidemic.

The Veterinary Department stated that since early this year, bird flu has occurred in 19 communes in ten provinces. So far, eight localities Thai Nguyen, Long An, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Nam Dinh, Tuyen Quang, Ninh Binh and Vinh Long have yet to be disease-free for 21 days.

Bui Ba Bong, deputy minister of agriculture and rural development, said that to prevent the epidemic from spreading, measures should be taken to supervise the raising, transportation and slaughtering of animals.
