Cao Bang discovers new bird flu outbreak

CAO BANG — The Department of Animal Health in the northern province of Cao Bang reported an outbreak of bird flu last weekend in poultry bred in Ly Bon Commune, Bao Lam District. So far, 50 chickens owned by four families have died from the disease.

The local authority said most of the poultry in the commune had not been vaccinated against the H5N1 virus.

This year, bird flu has appeared in the province since last October in eight communes in the border districts of Trung Khanh, Phuc Hoa and Bao Lam.
