Name:Viet Nam is recovering from its strongest ever drought and saltwater intrusion
Description:

Since late 2015, El NiƱo-induced drought and salt water intrusion have severely affected Viet Nam, triggering acute water, sanitation, health and food emergency needs for more than 2 million people. On 26 April 2016, the Government and the UN jointly issued the Drought and Salt Water Intrusion Emergency Response Plan (ERP) 2016/17 to address these immediate needs. Since then, more than US$26.4million has been mobilized from Government and non-Government sources to carry out life-saving water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, health, food security and livelihood interventions.

With relief operations concluding, actions remain vital to address short, medium and long term drought recovery and strengthen the resilience of affected communities. To increase awareness and inform these drought recovery efforts, the UN Disaster Risk Management Team has developed a user-friendly infographic, in English and Vietnamese.
