The United Nations Disaster Management Team met today (5 Nov.) to consider its response to the devastating flood in the central costal areas of Viet Nam.

Officers from the Committee for Central Floods and Storm Control briefed UN officials on current losses to both lives and livelihoods, and emergency relief requirements.

UN relief is expected to include food and medical supplies, as well as providing logistical support to the overall food relief operation.

UN Agencies will now each report back to their international headquarters.

The United Nations Disaster Management Team will meet again next week to assess and prepare a coordinated effort to assist those most in need.
