“Year of Youth Volunteers 2014” launched
 
On the morning of 19 January,2014 in Dien Bien Phu city, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union officially launched the Year of Youth Volunteers 2014.The launching ceremony were attended by representatives of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, National Safe Traffic Committee, People's Committee of Dien Bien and North West provinces, Youth Union of Hanoi city, ministries and departments at the central levels.
 


The Year of Youth Volunteers 2014

The Year of Youth Volunteers 2014 aims to promote the active role of youth volunteers in socio-economic development, poverty reduction, social security, and building of new rural areas and urban civilization. At the same time, the campaign targets at improving the quality of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, extending solidarity among Vietnamese young people and creating conditions for the Youth to improve moral qualities and skills.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, said: over 15 years since the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launch the Volunteerism movement across the country, the movement has grown strongly and attracted the participation of tens of millions of young people, generating significant changes in the socio-economic development. Therefore, the Year of Youth Volunteers 2014 serves as the celebration marking 15 years of Volunteerism movement as well as the recognition of the dedication of youth in the construction and defense of the country. This is not only an honor but also a great responsibility of Vietnamese young people.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms.Ha Thi Hai Yen - member of Youth union of Dien Bien Radio station, who represents Vietnamese youth volunteers expressed determination to contribute wisdom and enthusiasm to successfully fulfilling the targets of the "Year of the Youth Volunteers 2014. Right after the launching ceremony, the youth in Dien Bien flocked to nine locations around the province to joinvolunteerism activities, including safe motorbike driving courses for 500 youth union members, blood donation campaign; scholarships ceremony, free medicines distribution, free-of-charge medical checkups for local residents and groundbreaking ceremony of cultural houses.
