Le Thi Thu Hang

After gaining a Masters Degree in project management from University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, Hang came back to her home province and devotes her time working as a project officer for Viet Nam Corporation in Phu Tho province. After working hours, Hang enjoys chatting with friends in a café and playing games with her younger brother.

When she found out about the online volunteer assignment for UNV Viet Nam website, Hang thought it was possible and manageable. She says: “I found not many differences between offline and online volunteer assignment. The main thread throughout the work is the willingness and responsibility. It is also important that you can manage the time between your work and online volunteering. This is also the advantage of this assignment because you can do it anywhere, at any time, no dependence on other members in the group, no time lost waiting and traveling… Besides, our coordinator played an important role in supporting and connecting members and coordinating the work in harmony, like a conductor in an orchestra. Another advantage is that online volunteering is not restricted by geographic areas. However, it requires online volunteers to have regular internet access, feedback and contact with the coordinator.”

Hang adds: “I feel happy that our work has helped spread the information about UNV and volunteerism to many Vietnamese people. It also increases the volunteer opportunities for potentially interested people. Just apply for an online assignment and you will know how to fulfill your assignment. The most important thing is “willingness”. If you’re prepared to put something in, the feeling you get when your work is a success is wonderful.”
