UN Volunteers gather to share expertise and look forward
Against the backdrop of Minh Chau, a tiny village on a remote island close to the Chinese border with just over 1000 inhabitants, the national and international UN Volunteers in Viet Nam gathered for their annual retreat to
share their skills and to chart the way forward.

Strategy and trends
For Ms. Fiammetta Mancini, who recently joined the UNV Field Unit in Viet Nam as the new Programme Officer, this retreat was the perfect opportunity to meet the UNVs and gain some insights into their work. She opened the retreat with a presentation on the global and national UNV strategy and trends. After that, the floor was open to the UNVs, who engaged in a lively discussion on their role in general and on how they could help deliver One Plan and agency’s results in particular.

Global Volunteering Day
Hanoi, 27/4/2014 - “Global Volunteering Day” is an annual event held by VPV, where volunteering clubs and cultural organizations in Viet Nam. At the event, visitors got the chance to not only taste many traditional foods from around the world and enjoy cultural activities, but also have a chance to meet and talk with international volunteers. Young people could find out more about volunteering work with clubs and organizations they felt like volunteering for.
UNV participated in the event with a booth to introduce international and national visitors toUNV’s volunteering activities. Two important programmes exhibited were “UNV Youth Employment Skills Programme” and “Volunteering Stories for Development”. In addition, UNV volunteers brought to the booth some cultural and volunteering games which attracted great interest from young visitors.
