Signing ceremony of the UN-Government Joint Programme on Gender
Ha Noi, 19 March 2009 – Aiming to strengthen gender equality in public and private life, the Joint Programme on Gender involving 12 UN organizations and the Government of Viet Nam was launched today. The primary objective of the Joint Programme is improve the capacity of authorities, institutions and other duty bearers to implement, monitor, evaluate and report on the Laws on Gender Equality and Domestic Violence Prevention and Control. With a total budget of USD 4,683,516, with more than USD 4.5 million coming from the Spanish Government, the Programme will also enhance partnerships and coordination around gender equality within and outside of the Government, and strengthen evidence-based data and data systems for promoting gender equality.

 

Signing ceremony of the UN-Government Joint Programme aims to strengthen gender equality in Viet NamHA NOI, 19 March 2009 – A new Joint Programme on gender equality between the Government of Viet Nam and the United Nations is being signed today at an official ceremony attended by Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Ms Soledad Fuentes, Ambassador of Spain, Mr John Hendra, United Nations Resident Coordinator and representatives of twelve UN agencies in Viet Nam.

With a total budget of USD4,683,516, of which more than USD4.5 million comes from the Spanish government, the Joint Programme aims to improve the capacity of national and provincial authorities and other duty bearers to effectively implement, monitor and evaluate the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control.
