Mitsubishi to join hands with UNESCO in supporting local livelihoods and social cohesion in Quang Nam

Ha Noi, 24 January 2018 - H.E. Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Testu Funayama, President of Mitsubishi Corporation in Viet Nam paid a courtesy visit today to the UNESCO Ha Noi Office within the Green One UN House. On this occasion, Mitsubishi Corporation in Viet Nam and UNESCO also announced a small-scale project supporting the remodeling and strengthening of local cultural house in Tam Thanh coastal village, Tam Ky district, Quang Nam Province.

While addressing this small-scale project is purposed to demonstrate a commune-level remodeled cultural house to enhance the community interactive space, Mr. President of Mitsubishi Corporation underlined the vision and commitment of the Corporation in sustainable development, which would not limit in the Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Michael Croft remarked that the engagement of private sector is crucial in the current context of Viet Nam, which entered the LMIC group and has been experiencing the considerable decrease in external funding resources. The engagement of the private sector goes beyond their CSR programme but their commitment and support would be the important part of the implementation of the country's development agenda.

Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau encouraged UNESCO Office in Viet Nam further develop and strengthen the programmes and activities which outreach to communities in addition to significant contributions in policy advocacy and support over the past years.
